Contact us
If you are settling somebody's estate and cannot reach their record, write to us. That is the message we most want to get, and getting it early helps.
You can always write to us directly at support@guidedestate.life.
Writing to us does not by itself give you access to anybody's record.
Access is something the account holder grants, or that follows a death being declared and confirmed. If you are an executor who cannot get in, tell us the email address the account is under — it is on the sheet kept with the will, if there is one. Expect to have to prove who you are and to produce a death certificate. Please do not email us passwords, account numbers, or a copy of anybody's will.
Answers to the things we are asked most
Can I keep a record for my partner or parent as well as my own?
Yes — with a second account, one record each, and each of you giving the other access. Most couples do exactly that: two records, both complete, each person in control of their own and able to see the other's.
It works this way round because two people's affairs in a single login went wrong in ways that were hard to undo: one person's executor could reach the other's accounts, and when a couple separated, one of them was left with their whole record inside a login the other still controlled. Separate accounts are what make sharing between them safe.
A second account is a separate purchase. The record it holds can be about anybody, so it also covers a parent whose affairs you are settling rather than your own.
Ask us below and we will set it up with you.
I named my executor in the will. Can they get in?
Not yet, and this catches nearly everybody. Writing a name into your will records who you appoint; it does not give that person any way into this record. Those are two separate acts, and you have to do the second one as well — invite them, from the sharing page on your record.
The person I invited never got the email.
Ask them to look in the spam folder first, for a message about a record rather than about a death — it arrives long before it matters and reads like admin, which is why it gets missed. Invitations expire after fourteen days; if it has lapsed, revoke it on the sharing page and send a fresh one.
My update period has run out. Have I lost my record?
No. A purchase buys a year of changes, not a year of access. When it lapses you can still read everything, export all of it, delete it, and control who can reach it — what stops is editing. Nobody is ever locked out of a record because a card expired, and an executor is never affected by the state of somebody else's billing.
How do I get my data out, or delete all of it?
Both are on your record and neither costs anything, including after your update period has lapsed. The export is an ordinary file with everything in it, readable without this service. Deleting is immediate and is not reversible by us.
